Run off information

Stonefort Insurance was established in 2011 as a licensed insurer within the Stonefort Group. Its purpose was to support niche insurance structures, including discretionary mutuals and alternative schemes aligned with group and partner needs.

Over the years, the company contributed to risk financing diversification across several markets, while operating under Luxembourg regulatory oversight.
In line with Stonefort Group’s 2023–2024 strategic review, Stonefort Insurance has been placed into run-off. As of today, the company no longer underwrites new business. Its full focus is now on managing legacy portfolios with discipline, integrity, and full regulatory compliance.

We are committed to delivering on all past obligations and maintaining clear communication with former clients and partners.

Expertise at service

About us

Stonefort Captive Management was created in 2012 to serve the internal needs of HOCHTIEF and ACS in the field of captive insurance services.
For over a decade, it provided administrative, regulatory, and technical support to the group’s captive initiatives.
While this activity is now paused, we continue to value the know-how it represents within Stonefort Group.

What we do

As a licensed captive manager in Luxembourg, Stonefort Captive Management provided full-service captive management and advisory.
Services included:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Regulatory setup and licensing
  • Day-to-day management and reporting
  • Governance support and compliance oversight
Our focus was to help our group entities optimize risk financing and gain independence from commercial insurance markets.

Why a captive

Captives are strategic tools for companies seeking greater control over their insurance programs, pricing, and claims outcomes.
Within HOCHTIEF and ACS, captives helped absorb group-specific risks, create flexibility, and improve risk retention economics — especially in project-based and international contexts.

How a captive

A captive is a licensed insurance or reinsurance company formed to insure the risks of its parent group.
It operates under regulatory supervision, holds capital, issues policies, and manages claims — just like a traditional insurer.
Captive structures can take many forms: pure captives, group captives, protected cell companies, and more — depending on the complexity and scope of risk.
